GRAPHIC DESIGN STANDARDS
Many of our clients find the most effective ads are the result of careful planning and a clear vision. To help with this process we would like to offer examples of previous successful campaigns. It's our hope that studying these samples will provide a launching point for your own successful campaign. Along with samples it's important to keep in mind a few basic digital signage suggestions.
Color Theory
When selecting the primary color of your design its important to have a solid reason for using the colors rather than just saying "it looks good". Once you understand the relationship between the colors you're using you will have the ability to defend your design as well possibly improve upon it. For further reading on this subject we suggest you look at the following links...
Image Quality
One of the simplest ways to ensure the highest level of quality in your content is to start with images with a native resolution equal to that of the screen. This means if the screen you're designing to is 1920x1080 then your graphics should be equal to that size or greater. Starting with smaller content and enlarging the image will result in a degraded, fuzzy image. Scaling down is fine but scaling up is not.
Video
Animating content is another simple way to draw attention to your ad. While full motion broadcast quality video is always preferable it may be cost prohibitive for your project. A way to work around this is to animate a still image with pan and zoom effects. This is known as the Ken Burns effect. This simple trick allows you to get the best of static and animated content. An example of the Ken Burns effect can be found here www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNTiyRDhlRY
This is superb example of the Ken Burns effect used on an image larger than the canvas.
